We’ve had three Roomba’s over the years and we love them but we have never had a Scooba. From the very first Roomba, we were impressed with how it detects stairs. It would go around the house, vacumning along the way. Then when it reaches the stairs, it knows not to head straight and fall down. It nudges forward then backs up with precision, turns around and goes the other way. The programming on it is really amazing. The Scooba will do the same. But instead of vacumning, it will wash, scrub and squeegee your floors.
The Scooba is also built by iRobot, the company that designs robots for battlefield applications (eg. Iraq) to disassemble bombs and to offer a second set of eyes for our soldiers. Not as rugged as these battle droids, the Scooba is still a pretty heavy duty cleaning machine. They have a rubber bumper in the front to bump walls and furniture. And on top of having stair detecting technology, the Scooba detects carpet from linoleum, sealed hardwood and tile. It knows not to spray water and suds on carpets, and turns around until it finds a washable floor before resuming its spray.
The Scooba uses a single tank of cleaning solution, spraying the floor then scrubbing and sucking the water and dirt into its dirt tank. It can clean an entire kitchen with one single tank of cleaning solution.
If you want the latest Scooba, follow the links on this page and you won’t be disappointed.
